Maybe somewhere in the chemistry that had begun our life together at Canterbury University, there was an acceptance of the importance of form and beauty. He was studying for his Civil Engineering Degree, whilst I was at Art School. I remember his appreciation of natural beauty was aroused when, on an early evening drive to the country, I suddenly exclaimed, “Stop the car,” which he did, followed by, “Look at that glorious sunset,” as I climbed out to enjoy the transient beauty of the moment. After which he became quiet for a long time and we drove silently until he said, “No one has ever asked me to do that before – to stop and look at the sunset.” WIN THIS BOOK We have 2 copies of Ayrlies, My story, my garden by Bev McConnell to give away to Get Growing VIP club members.
